Why are some people so centered on their sexual orientation?

Can't they focus on something else like career, personality, character, and mutual hobbies and interests -- to bond with others?

2. Yes those things would be nice. I actually find more people centered on their career. Who knew?
3. You will probably figure out the answer when you realize that it's almost exclusively gay people who are so centered.

5. I find it strange that a lot of people get so centered on everyone else's sexual orientation. If people want to bond about being gay, it is probably because people around them ostracize them. They look for comfort and reassurance from each other.
