I am looking for a hobby to take up, but I don't know where to start. Anyone out there have any favorites?
It would help greatly if I could get a list of hobiies from as many people as possible, and all of the plusses and minuses of that hobby. Thanks so much!!

- golf or bridge Golf is very healthy--if you do 18 holes you will walk about 6 miles carrying a bag. Plus you have to have balance. Bridge will help you meet exciting people, you can do it all year, and even on line. It will improve your memory and your thinking processes.
- Go Bowling!!! Its great fun and you can join a league to mingle with new people!
- I love to do scrap-booking, the down fall is if you have kids you have to do it when they go to bed if they are toddlers, i have a 2 year old and i work on mine when she is asleep i just put my headphones on and work away, there are tons of books out there to start and when I'm done i keep every thing in shoe boxes or about that size and stack them back up in my closet when I'm done, I also like to sew make out fits and stuff, the down fall of that is you have to have room to keep every thing, and patterns can be confusing some times, cloth really is that expensive, unless you get into the fleece or real furry stuff, I've made curtains, outfits for my daughter, pj's for my 8 year old brother, pillows, blankets, some jeans shirts, etc. I also like to make jewelry, key chains, paint shelf's, make candles, soap, potpourri jars, flower arrangements for the wall, or table. wow i guess i do a lot i didn't realize it till now. well good luck i hope this has helped.
- JoAnn craft stores (the superstores) offer all kinds of hobby anc craft classes and very reasonable prices. You can try a few to find out what you like.
- i do some gardening, shadow figures ( i have 4 white horses running down my fence line ) and one that i thought i could not do was woodburning. my sister put a large piece of leather in the center of my moms coffee table and told me to woodburn a picture on it. anyway, i "traced" a western scene with cowboys and horses and just traced it again with the woodburner. it turned out so pretty that i bought a professional woodburner and have been doing it ever since but on wood. it's really easy. another thing that's easy is taking plain colored t-shirts, laying objects ( like leaves or whatever on them and spraying clorox lightly around the object. immediately after, dunk the shirt in a bucket of water and you have a pretty original design.
- Reading is a great hobby an educational too, pick a subject read up on it to c if u r interested in it if not try another subject.
- Cycling isn't a bad choice for outdoor activity. It is easier on the joints than running or jogging. You would need to decide on the type of riding you plan on doing (around the neighborhood, off road, long distance) and set a budget (don't forget the accessories like a helmet). I'd suggest going to a bicycle shop because there is a wider variety of bikes, they will find something suited to your riding style, plus they can find a bike that fits you. They also do test rides so you can actually try before you buy.
- I am LMAO!!! A guy calling himself icrashalot is telling you to ride bikes. Its a great hobby, but I just got tickled. LOL
- I collect coins. This hobby can be expensive, because most valuable coins have long ago been cherry picked, so one seldom finds a valuable coin in pocket change. Thus, to build a collection, one must purchase coins. The pluses are that you can satisfy both your aesthetic taste and your investing interests. I bought old gold coins a year ago and now they are worth double what I paid for them.
