Crazy Hobbies

I want to take up a new hobby. What kind of hobby should I try?

I recently went to the wedding reception of an old friend that I’d not seen for 5 years. He introduced me to many people, but the only thing he’d ever say about me was that I play video games. Well, that is true; and I did play video games a lot 5 or 6 years ago, but I really don’t play them much at all any more. I want to start a new hobby, so I’ll have more to tell people that I do. Saying “I play video games” tends to make one sound like some kind of lazy bum with no social life. I know that’s not always the case, but that is the stereotype, and certainly doesn’t describe me very well. I was thinking something artistic or music related; learning to play the electric guitar perhaps? Something a little more physical might be fun, too. Perhaps taking up bodybuilding (not exactly my style, but wouldn’t hurt), or swimming. I’m just looking for some general hobby suggestions that might be fun and not too expensive to do.

  1. Try a few different things and see if you take an interest in them. Try swimming, try bodybuilding, try listening to some electric guitar clips and see how you feel about the sound. All you need to do is find something you like.
  2. dancing, photography, volunteering at the SPCA, running, any local sports league. I think dancing would be a fun one. You meet so many people and you'll have such a great time!!!
  3. try playing slots and earn money if u win u will have what to tell your friends
  4. you should take soccer, because soccer is the favorite game of my friend and he really enjoy too. so you should pick soccer.
  5. 1) You should try basketball it doesnt tkae much skill well... it does to shoot and pass corectly but it is a lot of fun. 2) Join a target shooting team.I love bows and 22's it is really fun maybe a little expensive not that much though.
  6. Well theres all sorts of things you could do, photography although somwhat expensive will give you a chance to get some exercize while getting outdoor shots but for the days you don't feel like going anywhere you can shoot in the house. You could take up woodworking or metal smithing you can start out with little equiptment and build up as you get intewrested or not. you could go to a music store and try out what they have in the store to see if you want to try something like that.

  8. Check out Letterboxing.org, this is a creative hobby but also a "working" hobby. The gist of it......this is a scavenger hunt, you will find "locations" of the boxes with directions for finding them. You have a rubber stamp that is yours, also a journal that will be yours. The boxes will have a stamp and journal. When you find the box you will make your mark in it. And then use the stamp from the box to stamp your journal. This is a good hobby because you will be outdoors, will always have something "new" to share and can take other people with you on the search. These boxes have locations all over the world or even just your city. If you live close to an area where you can go into other states it will be even more exciting. My daughter and I live in FL on the east coast. We found them here then she went to TX to visit a friend and had printed out various locations with directions before she went there. She then took her friend she was visiting on the hunt in TX. My daughter then moved to Ft Myers FL which is the west coast. She has now involved friends from her job or school in this hobby.
  9. It really depends on what you like. Music, sports, or even volunteering. I would try a sport you like but have never tried, or one you have but didn't go far.
  10. Do something mind building like reading or learning a new language.
  11. learing a new language.
  12. You might try tennis or building model cars or volley ball, which I don't know if that would be considered a hobby but you have something to do with your time and plus get exercise.
  13. If you're into video games, why not move up a notch and learn to fly... on a simulator, that is? Take a look at this (it's strictly non-commercial!): http://www.tooby.demon.co.uk/Log/LearnToFly.html You might find some other things to interest you there, also. Have fun!
  14. You could take uo crocheting and make gifts for friends and for your self . It is fairly easy to do and not that costly.
