Crazy Hobbies

Does anybody know of some good inexpensive restaurants in Houston?

We are staying in Houston for 5 days, leaving in a week. We'll be somewhere near the Hobby Airport and we have a 3 year old. Family restaurants would be great.

  1. NINFAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ughhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i was there right now. the BEST salsa you will EVER have in your LIFE. i am so jealous. have a great time!!!! xoxoxoxox
  2. There is a really good Pakistani restaurant next to Best Buy @ Westhimer & HWY 6. It is called the Shishkabob Cafe.
  3. There are a lot of Pappasitas around Houston. Not the cheapest ever, but pretty inexpensive. Just FYI, the area around Hobby Airport has not always been the safest. Be careful!
  4. well theres a denny at the corner of 145 and airline drive, and theres a luthers bbq on 45 and several chines buffets if you go south on 145,, also bennigans on bay are blvd,, "south on 45"
  5. Houston has ten thousand restaurants and a lot of them are chains. Most are reasonably priced. If you're looking for variety, check out the following web site: http://www.b4-u-eat.com B4 U Eat is a listing of most restaurants in town and has reviews. The reviews usually mention whether or not they spent a lot. Of course there's always Chili's...
  6. For only local restaurants, not chains, that should be kid-friendly, I made a short list below. They are moderately priced, but if you search them on Yahoo Local, they usually have a menu or their website. Most places now are kid-friendly because you can't smoke in any restaurant or bar anymore. Hobbit Cafe-Lord of The Rings inspired small cafe with a fun menu, and big portions. Any of the Pappa's restaurants are good (Pappasitos [Mexican], Pappadeux's [cajun], YiaYia Mary's [Greek], and Pappa's BBQ) Rajin Cajun-Best Cajun food in Houston Thai Cottage-Voted #1 Thai restaurant in Houston for several years straight-they have about 4-5 locations citywide (lunch menu is about $6/person and has plenty of food) Star Pizza-never been, but is supposed to be the absolute best in town. If I can think of anything else, I will add it later.
  7. I second Kat's comment. Hobby airport area isn't the safest area of Houston. If you go just a short way South on 45, you'll find a lot of chain restaurants around Beltway 8 (fuqua exit) and ALOT at Bay Area Blvd about 5ish miles further down the road. You can find almost anything you want at I-45 & Bay Area Blvd. Many are chains and kid friendly. Also, while Westheimer has a lot of good restaurants, it is not in the Hobby Airport area.
