I want to know if and how I can rent a small private airplane for less than a day (to fly it for a couple of hours by myself).

No. Well yes if you have a pilots license... If not no way!! (my dad is a pilot) but you can hire someone to teach you how to fly-- call my dad he's an instructor lol or you can pay someone to fly you around. But just call a local small airport, if your in the south call Martin-Campbell airport in Ducktown Tennessee... or I know of a small airport in Jasper Georgia. Just call around.
