how far away from william B. Hobby airport to 3417 montrose boulevard in houston, there is any public transpo?

I am in Tampa, I need to go to the Chinese Consulate General in Houston. I want to take public transporttion between the airport and Chinese Consulate( only for save money). Qeuestion: 1. which airport is better, William B. Hobby or George Bush Intercontinental ? 2. can you brifely describe how to get transportation? 3. If I get IAH at 8: 07am, is it possible that I can be there(Chinese Consulate) before or around 9:00 am? Thanks.

  1. From Hobby Airport, you will be going from the Southeast area of Houston to the Southwest area of Houston during peak rush hour traffic. This is a shorter distance, but you would not make it by 9am. IAH is located in North Houston and would be about 50 miles away from the Consulate. Houston does have METRO (bus/trolley/public transportation) but it doesn't run all over the city. You'd have to access the METRO website and do a trip planner to see if you can get to the Consulate from either airport. See link below. Good Luck!
  2. well looks like you gonna be closer to hobby. I been to hobby and igh bush both i liked hobby a whole lot better!
  3. I would recommend Hobby Airport. They have lower cost airline like Southwest, and it is a little bit closer to where you need to go. For Hobby, you have two choices #1: Catch that number 88 Downtown bus, get off at Lousiana & Jefferson (stop is facing Lousiana), Walk one block West to Smith and then Walk one block South to St. Joseph Pkwy (bus facing Smith), and take that 82 Westheimer bus to Westheimer and Montrose, and walk North to your destination. Average trip time: 57 minutes. Fare $1.00 (ask for a free transfer) #2 Catch that number 73 Bellfort bus, get off at the TMC Transit Center, walk across to your left and catch at the transit center the 34 Montrose bus to your destination. at the stop of Montrose & Hawthrone (one block south of Westheimer) Average trip time 1 hour 5 minutes: Fare $1.00 (ask for a free transfer) From Bush IAH, Walk over to Terminal C grund transportation on the street level. Board that 102 bus for downtown (its about 50 minutes from Bush to downtown) Get off at Milam and Rusk, walk one block south on Milam to Walker, then turn right and board that 82 Westheimer bus to Westheimer/Montrose Average time : 90 minutes, Fare M-F Between 5am-9am going to downtown and 3pm-7pm going towards the Airport is $1.50, othertimes $1.00 - make sure you ask for a free transfer. At Hobby Airport, the bus' stop just outside Baggage Claim, after you walk out the main door, go to your right, and you will see the small waiting area for the buses. At Bush IAH - its only one bus 102, and you can catch it only at Terminal C ground transportation. If you need any more help, please feel free to click the edit/add details. 4. 1. Hobby Airport is much closer to the Chinese Consulate. It will take about 30min by cab. Bush Airport will take about 1 - 1.5 hours. 2. Public transport in Houston is basically non-existent. A cab ride from Hobby will be about $60.00. The bus will cost you $2.00 each way. But the buses are very slow and there is not one that goes directly to the Chinese Consulate. Check out the bus system's website. There is a trip planner where to type in where you are (Hobby Airport) and the address to where you are going and you will get an email with the bus numbers you need to take to get there and the approximate time. http://www.ridemetro.org/ 3. If you get to IAH at 8:07am there is no way to be at the Chinese Consulate by 9:00am I hope this helps and good luck.
  5. 1.I've read the other answers and I'll co-sign them... LAND AT HOBBY! If you have an agenda and a time table that involves you being in the "Montrose" area then Hobby is your only choice. 2. As far as the transportation issue, "Metro" is the only public mean of travel. I've included the web-sight at the bottom you can check out the different schedules and time to see whats best for you. You can also call, Metro is real friendly about telling you over the phone the fast route. 3.And lastly,... no. You cannot land at Hobby 8:07am, use public transportation and maintain a 9:00am appointment. Your not that far but your going to have to transfer buses, look for a location (I don't know if you've been there before or not) and do it all in 53min. You could possibly be standing at you first bus stop of up to 20 min, AND if your using Metro on SUNDAY.... well... I'll just put it like this, if your trying to do this on a Sunday call a cab or rent a car.
