Why do perfectly sensible people write to serial killers as a hobby and strike up friendships with them????

Ms Sparrow. How hard is it to understand a very simple question, for Christs sake? Use your brain, dear. is it INTERNATIONAL POINTGAMIN PRANNET CHAMPIONSHIPS tonight? I should have said "otherwise perfectly sensible - meaning that they are sensible in other matters.

4. it's the law of the opposite... it's just like someone introvert likes someone completely different to himself/herself - in this case - someone extrovert. lots of people like whatever is different. it's strange but serial killers will have lots of 'fans' for being different...

7. God knows why, but it is quite common. Huntley gets loads, and its always happened. I can remember reading Peter Sutcliffe got them, earlier on in the sentence. I suppose someone studying Forensic Psychology may do it for research, or out of interest? Other than that, I would call them, especially the women, sad and desperate for a relationship with someone, who wont reject them, as they have been used to, but will be greatful, for their friendship due to the fact they are banged up.

10. And in extreme cases end up marrying them too. Lots of women write to the Yorkshire Ripper and Ian Huntley and to be honest I don't think these murderers should be allowed any contact with the outside world. As for the people who write to them then I should think it's out of morbid curiousity to begin with and because these killers know exactly what to say probably because they get other people to reply to these letters, then I think these stupid women fall for it and think they are special and exempt from being murdered.
11. It's just plain weird when women dump their families to move across the other side of the world for a 'death row wedding', they obviously have some issues and should maybe strike up a friendship/professional relationship with a counsellor
12. They do it because these people have exercised the power of life and death. Death is the 'door' through which we all must pass one day, and that fascinates and terrifies us. It's a sort of 'what was it like as her eyes went blank?' thing. We want to know what the killer (and his victim) felt as they witnessed that one, singular moment when the living passed into the world of the dead.
13. Curiosity I should imagine but if I did I would make sure they had a water tight case against them so they would never get out and come knocking on my door!

It probably starts where the person writing is a bit do-goody two shoes and thinks they can help the killer/ make them a better person etc. As the contact continues I guess they become friends and they stupidly forget what the person has done to be in there in the first place. Eventually they must fall in love or something pathetic like that. I dont think they can really have been sensible people in the first place though. Personally, I dont think people should just be able to write into prisoners like that. When you go in to prison, you should provide a list of contacts. If your names not on that list then letters from the public should not be allowed.
15. yeah I've heard this woman even want to marry these freaks of nature some people are just very dumb and i don't think as you claim they are sensible. having said that some might be religious and want to save the killers soul by teaching them about god and what not did you know that serial killer artwork swaps hand for large sums of money and some folk even collect autographs
