I am looking to take a hobby which will allow me to meet new people?
Hi, I am looking into taking up a out of work hobby which will also allow me to meet new people. I live in the Lewisham area but, I am willing to travel within reason. I wanted to hear from people and get some suggestions? THANKS!

- Salsa classes - great fun.
- dogging.
- How about a language class at your local college? Gym membership? Voluntary work? Befriending Programme?
- community theatre
- Why don't you call your local college and ask for a list of night classes available. Mine do everything from Photography to Belly Dancing so I'm sure there will be something that appeals to you.
- ceramic lessons? Painting? drawing? could be something.
- I was the same when i moved to a new area two years ago. A sport is probley your best option cause if you're nervous of meeting new people you automatically begin working as a team. I started Kickboxing and became addicted!! Lovely people, good exercise. Nothing bonds two people together like kicking the tar out of eachother : )
- Its on the net. Its club penguin where you will make new friends and have loads and loads of fun playing together. Here is the site -- www.clubpenguin.com . But its not a hobby as such to say but you will not board once you get started.
- why not join your local pubs darts team
- Model Railroading, Community Theater are my favorites... Not sure where Lewisham is... guessing it's the UK... so here is a link to the UK Model Railroaders Association: http://www.cwrr.com/nmra/Clubb-UK.html Model RR clubs are fun... you can visit, meet folks, and decide if you LIKE the hobby with little outlay of cash.
- why don't you organize a scrapbooking sessions. You can tell your friends and neighbors to participate. You can exchange ideas in order to make a beautiful and creative scrap book
- I had to check the answers, before I did. Quilting Bees are dying off ( from what I've heard ) Get a group of women together to stitch and converse together on a certain night. At the end, when you have finished hand quilting the quilt, raffle it off for a worthy charity. You can be doing something creative, meeting new friends, learning a a skill. I call that creative " women talk time ".You may think of this idea as old fashioned, but I think of it would be very relaxing time, girl talk time with a spectacular end result. I wish there was one in my area I could join.
- Sport Dancing Language Theatre - amateur dramatics, behind the scenes as well as acting Walking, Hiking. Birdwatching - join a group Conservation
- Rubber stamping and scrapbooking! Go to the site below and join!!!
