Opinion on Hobbies (Woodworking vs. Sewing)? I am thinking about taking up a new hobby. I enjoy creating things (especially useful things for the home,) and have more skill fallowing procedures than having to create without using guidelines or tools. Hobbies for a 19 year old college girl? My girlfriend needs a hobby. She dorms and her roommates are complete jerks. Looking for hobbies/interests? I don't know, I'm seem sort of unsatisfied with my life right now. I spent all of last semester studying. And even now, I can't even list on my Facebook things that I like doing. Are there any unconventional hobbies that you would recommend? For a large portion of my nineteen years, I've been constantly told that I exist only "in my head." Such comments never bothered me before; I was perfectly content in my passion (narrative writing/dissertation) and chosen hobbies (reading, researching, experimenting in the natural sciences, etc.). Now, however, that criticism is starting to work its way beyond my erected defenses because slowly I'm realizing that there is some merit to the scrutiny. Truthfully, the only physical activity that I engage in is Chinese Wushu and even then it's a component to a more abstract interest (energy manipulation for use with ceremonial magick). But I'm willing to expand that single-item list. I want to involve myself in more hobbies that force me to use my flesh and musculature, but I don't want those hobbies to be run of the mill. Football...basketball...baseball...sports in general--they hold no interest with me. I need alternative hobbies that I can pursue. That's why I've come you all. I'm considering archery, but I'm still well open to suggestions.

I have a copy of Fly RC, and it looks good, but it covers radio controlled model airplanes mostly. Sense R/C helicopters are much harder to master, it looks like there would be a hobby magazine that is devoted to the radio controlled helicopter hobby. Hobby, or Small Business? I'm trying to build up a photography portfolio, because eventually I'd like to start my own business. With spring coming up I'm starting to think about high school senior portraits. In my opinion, that's a great way to start building up a portfolio, so I want to get as many clients as I can. Hobby box vs. Retail box?? I just bought two boxes of sports cards that are supposed to have really good insert cards, such as autographs and game-used stuff. However, just as I was buying them, I found out that the boxes were retail boxes instead of hobby boxes. Both boxes are factory sealed and have the same number of packs per box. Random Hobby Needed? A day around 2 years ago I just randomly picked up the hobby of juggling, I loved it. It was amusing, wasted time, and sometimes even impressed people. Starting a Hobby-related Business..? I want to start a gaming store... roleplaying games, TCGs, video games, board games, the works. My area is ripe for one, and I know the hobby well... as well as what prospective customers would like to see. My problem is, I've no idea as to the numbers side of things. I don't know much about writing a business plan, and nothing about anything else. I need to get funding, insurance, set up inventory lines... and what else? Assuming that I understand the hobby side of things well enough to make this work, where would be a good place to go to get more information about building a startup retail/rental biz... including acquiring funding?

New Mom, Need a Hobby!!!? Hi all! This seems like it would be simple enough to solve, but I just can't find a hobby! I am a new mom, to a 4 month old. I am used to working full time, but working is NOT an option right now. I am not used to being in the house this much, and I would LOVE to get into a hobby. All I do is chores around the house, and take care of my baby. Then when he is napping, I hop in the shower, get dressed, and then bam I am bored. I am soooo sick of the TV, reading , and the computer. I would love to do something creative, yet affordable. I did a lot of scrapbooking and that was sooo fun, but buying all the supplies costs way too much money when you are not working, and raising a baby. So, my question is, what is a good hobby, that doesn't cost a lot to maintain, is easy to put down at the drop of a hat (or cry, lol), and can be done at home? Any ideas?

What's a good hobby that can get you stronger? Say you work all day at a desk, and need a hobby... but a hobby that will make you fit. I'm not talking about going to the gym as a hobby. I mean like fire wood splitting or something. Something to counter that fact that you sit down all day long and don't do physical labor at work. Something I can do from my back yard would be great... I don't have much time to mountain climb during the week. Thanks
